I was thinking about that, with the pens. They're SO easy to make. I made about six of them in an hour in front of the television, and it didn't cost very much! I bet people would want them. I've been trying to find ways to make the ink replaceable, but I guess if they don't cost too much, it doesn't really matter. I also made them work by cutting the insert from a ballpoint pen in half, and was surprised the ink didn't leak. If someone could explain to me the physics behind why it doesn't, I'd feel much better about doing this. So far, none of them has leaked, though.
Well, unfortunately they inexplicably took all of Suzie's designs down, even though I can't see how ANY of them violated copyright. A red shield with the word Prefect? Can you copyright a color? Or are they just too stupid to know that a prefect is an actual thing not specific to Harry Potter?? Plus, other people are selling similar things, and their designs haven't been taken down. It was completely arbitrary and capricious. And I can't help but think I'm next. And yet, they leave up "I did Lily Evans at Hogwarts" and "Order of the Penis." But no, "Prefect" is a copyright violation.
I asked my boss about the pens. He said there's a vacuum in the writing end--sort of like having your finger over the end of a straw--while there's no vacuum in the cut-off end. That's why the part I cut off leaked, while the other part did not. It still makes me a little nervous, though. I tried looking online for short refills but didn't find any. I'll keep trying.
Maybe CafePress doesn't completely stink. I got my order from the Silver Stag and I love everything! The tanktop with the Phoenix design is especially wonderful.
Yay! I just saw that you ordered something! I'm really glad you like it. Thanks!! I got a raglan hooded sweatshirt with the phoenix on it a long time ago (before I had the shop) that is my favorite thing in the world. Some of their prices are too high, but at least their clothes are good quality, and I like the look of the direct printing.

Laurie, I wonder if you can find shorter pen refills online? That way the mystery of the non-leaking ink won't keep you up at night.
